World Trade Center Attacks and U.S. Response: 8 Months Later
Dean Sayers

8 Months ago, a horrible tragedy occured in New York City. 2998 of our brethren were ruthlessly murdered by Osama Bin Laden's henchmen. Even a tragedy of this scale can deepen...

Im sure you are well aware that a patriotic ferver arupted from this... You could nary drive half a block without running into an American flag that was pridefully displayed on the back of a car, and you still have about the same ratio of cars to flags today. This was not at the time, besides being obtuse and blind, really bad at all. For the evils of this so - called "war on terrorism" was to unfold much like a nightmare.

On October 7'th of the same year, Bush initiated air strikes on the Afghan state (Sept. 11'th if you include the suspicious bombings that occured that day). The majority of the casualitites was the civilian population. They dropped bombs in the middle of residential areas, hospitals (one they hit twice!), and Mountain ranges where an untold and uncountable number of innocent, peaceful Afghans were killed. Bombs that did not go off were left in the streats among women, children, and men, most of which had nothing to do with either Bin Laden or the Afghan state. There have been more that 4000 civilian deaths as a result of this "war on terrorism", which is 133% that of the Sept. 11'th trajedy. This made me look at all those people with their pretty flags very differently. How would you look at someone whom you knew to condone murder? For, Einstein once said, "Killing under the cloak of war is no different than murder".

Their cause has, all along, been to kill Bin Laden, or so they say. ...But, how, exactly, is this benefitting Bush? It is certainly helping his approval rating, as wars always do. It allows friendly access to lots of il in afghanistan, which is most likely the biggest reason for this war. It Lets Bush declare a new holiday, "Patriot Day", for all the people who decided that America became better when someone attacked it. And he gets to kill a bunch of innocent people, as we have seen he so loves to do in his capital punishment principles. However, I could write an entire book on his evil practices in America, but that is not my purpose here.

What is most disturbing is that Bush is (or did) discontinue the research into Bin Laden by the FBI around the time of the Sept. 11'th attacks. Woe was also me upon discovering that Bush had a summit with Osama not long before the Sept. 11'th attacks, or so I'm told... ...And, of course, all we have recieved from Bush is that he is a white knight is a war against subhumans - I seriously doubt that he would look at the situation with as much murderous ideas if it were white people that were the perpetrators of this crime.

As I type these letters, I have little doubt that another Afghan is being murdered at the hands of the American Imperialistic oaves. It saddens me to know that everywhere I look, people are supporting this massive killing of civilians, much like those in the Vietnamese war. The only reason the common citizens in America dont look at it the way they did Vietnam is because Ladenism is not a fad in America, like Communism as made a fad in the late 60s to early 70s.

And to all those who think that Bush is still in the right for his misdeeds: why not tell that to the mother of a 7 - year old child who died from a shrapnel wound to the head from an American bomb? I was taught that two wrongs didn't make a right, and I never really contested that wisdom.
